Ronald (Ron) Norris Evenson of Morris, IL, passed away on Friday, March 21, after years of fighting prostate cancer. With God as his guide, Ron was one tough cowboy who lived life to the fullest with a "can do" attitude, eternal optimism, a great sense of humor, generosity, and love for his family and friends.
Ron was born in Eugene, OR on March 26, 1945, to parents, Norris and Agnes Evenson. He grew up in Valley City, ND where his four sisters played a significant role in shaping his character. During those formative years he learned the value of hard work, how to save his money, the importance of conservation and the beauty and quiet of being outside in nature. He was a student athlete at Valley City High School which earned him a football scholarship to NDSU in Fargo, ND. Two highlights of his college days were meeting Jeannine Hagen, whom he married in 1968, and being a member of the first National Football Championship Bison team in 1965.
