Age 84 of Morris, Illinois, and formerly of Coal City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025, at Serenity Estates of Morris.Born November 5, 1940, in Dongola, Illinois, Fred was the son of Carl and Elsie (Davis) Davidson. He was raised in Cairo, Illinois, and graduated from Cairo High School with the Class of 1958. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in Germany from July 1958 until his honorable discharge in April 1961.Following his military service, Fred began his career at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant before moving on to Amoco. He later dedicated 29 years to Quantum, retiring in December 1997.An avid cyclist, Fred cherished the many memorable bike trips from Coal City to Galena with his dear friend Bill Spivey. He attended Coal City United Methodist Church, and was an enthusiastic golfer and a passionate sports fan, with a deep loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals.
