Frank Sereno Frank LaVerne Sereno died on January 18, 2025. He was 100 years old. Frank was born September 15, 1924, in Morris, IL, the son of the late Frank Joseph and Beulah (Tarbox) Sereno. He attended Verona Grade School, and graduated from Mazon Township High School with the class of 1942. He attended Gallagher Business School in Kankakee until he enlisted in the Army Air Force in October,1943, during World War II. Frank served with the famous 416th bombardment group, 9th Air Force, as an aerial gunner on an A-26 invader bomber. He flew 10 combat missions over Germany. He married Phyllis Johnson at the Park Street Congregational Church in Mazon, on July 15, 1944, while on military leave. They lived in North Carolina until he was deployed to France. They had one daughter, Carol Ann, born in July, 1945. Soon after Frank returned to the states, he was recruited by the Chicago White Sox farm team. He declined and also decided against returning to Gallagher for his business certificat
